Aldactone-Spironolactone is the oral diuretic medication designed
for use in treating the congestive heart failure and blood pressure
disorders and has been officially approved by the Food and Drugs
Administration-FDA of the United States. The drug also tends to
block testosterone aiding to avert hair loss while promoting the
re-growth of hair. This drug is also used to help enhance the amount
of potassium in the body when it is observed getting excessively
lower. The drug has been formulated in the tablet form by the world
renowned pharmaceutical giants Pfizer Incorporated of the United
States of America.
Aldactone-Spironolactone is the typical pharmacological antagonist
of aldosterone which basically functions through competitive binding
receptors as the aldosterone dependent, sodium potassium exchange
site in the distal complex renal tubule. The drug causes improved
quantity of sodium and water to be emitted while maintaining minimal
loss of potassium in the body. This medication is found to be acting
both as the diuretic agent as well as the anti-hypertensive drug due
to such mechanism. The medication may be given singly or with other
diuretic agents that function rather proximally in the renal tubule.
The drug is said to enhance levels of mineralocorticoid, aldosterone
that are present in the primary and secondary hyperaldosteronism. An
edematous phase wherein secondary aldosteronism is normally absorbed
incorporates congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis and
nephritic syndrome. The action of antagonizing the effect of
aldosterone, this drug inhibits the exchange of sodium for potassium
in the distal renal tubule and helps preventing potassium loss.
Aldactone-Spironolactone has not been demonstrated of raising serum
uric acid to impulsive gout or to change carbohydrate metabolism.
